This week we got together to farewell one of our long serving and well-respected Warrigal staff members, Kevin, after an impressive 24 years of service.
Kevin joined Warrigal on his birthday 24 years ago, following a redundancy in his previous role after 20 years of service. He subsequently entered the aged care industry with a desire to make meaningful connections with older people. This desire paired with an interest in outdoor work formed a perfect combination for the role – and the rest is history.
At the heart of our homes and villages, Kevin played a pivotal role in curating our gardens and landscapes. He continually ensured that outdoor living spaces and gardens for our residents and villagers remained immaculate and pristine. He turned his role into a vocation, consequently forging positive relationships with those he served. This is something he credits as making a profound difference in his day-to-day experiences.
Kevin carefully managed expectations, meeting the diverse needs and desires of those in the communities he worked within. He reflects, “Building connections is not just about the work; it’s about understanding and collaborating. It’s working with the people you are helping, not against them.”
Warrigal CEO, Jenni Hutchins, commended Kevin on his dedication, stating “Kevin’s loyalty and hard work embody the values of Warrigal. His contribution has played a pivotal role in creating a positive living environment for our residents. He will truly be missed by so many.”
As Kevin prepares for retirement, above all he hopes his legacy at Warrigal will be continuation of the well-tended to gardens he helped nurture. We wish Kevin all the best for his retirement, and sincerely thank him for his outstanding contributions to our community throughout his 24 years of service!
