From sustainable power sources to energy-efficient appliances, environmentally conscious design choices and public transport options, you can be sure that life at Warrigal Lake South will be a whole lot greener!

From sustainable power sources to energy-efficient appliances, environmentally conscious design choices and public transport options, you can be sure that life at Warrigal Lake South will be a whole lot greener!
Sustainable living at Warrigal goes beyond the village itself – we recognise the wider community that each village is a part of and do our part in reducing environmental impacts.
Sustainability has been at the forefront of the planning, designing, and now, development stage of this project. This is evident across the build through the carefully considered selection of materials, fixtures, appliances, and even the site’s location, offering a sustainable lifestyle to those who will call Warrigal Lake South home.
These innovative environmentally conscious choices include:

With a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 5.2, the selected Rheem air sourced heat pump hot water systems are an excellent sustainable choice for each villa. This model (551E280) is also significantly more cost-effective when compared to other systems – an added perk of life at the community village.

Each kitchen will be fitted with an induction stove top – a modern appliance that’ll make cooking that much better! Compared to gas and electric ceramic cooktops, induction stove tops are significantly more energy efficient, faster, and offer greater safety benefits, with no open flames and minimal heat transmission occurring outside of the pot. These stoves will be predominantly powered by the rooftop solar PV using behind the meter renewable electricity, reducing your power bill.

Each villa will be equipped with Panasonic Premium Reverse Cycle Inverter air conditioning, an energy-efficient appliance with additional energy-saving functionality, accessible through Wi-Fi app settings – a green tick for sustainability at Warrigal Lake South.

Each dwelling will also be equipped with ceiling fans, a great sustainable addition that’ll be sure to keep the villas cool in summer and lightly circulate heated air in winter. With minimal running costs, and offsetting the need for air conditioning year-round, not only will you be reducing your environmental impact, but you’ll also be further reducing your electricity bill!

Another environmentally conscious choice within the village’s design is the inclusion of water tanks and taps. Through the conservation of rainwater, you’ll be reducing your water costs, all whilst maintaining your garden through sustainably sourced water usage.

With ceiling and wall installation, and the carefully considered selection of materials, cooling and heating needs within the villas will be minimised. The light grey colouring of the Colorbond roofing used across the build will reflect heat, helping to ensure the villas remain at a comfortable temperature year-round.

With the installation of Sungrow solar inverters, monitoring your solar generation/status has never been easier! Using the Sungrow app and via the communication dongle installed under these solar inverters, you’ll be able to monitor your renewable power usage.

Sustainable convenience is key to life at Warrigal Lake South. With a public bus stop located out the front of the village, enjoy a sustainable, affordable and convenient alternative to travel. Premier Illawarra’s Bus #51, running along King Street, offers an hourly service from Wollongong Train Station, travelling through to Oak Flats Train Station via Stockland Shellharbour.

Another sustainability feature within the village is the two 22kW electric vehicle chargers. These will be located near the village community hall and will have a tap and go payment system (like a card reader). A power point will also be located at the carport of each dwelling which can be used for slow charging your vehicle.

Each villa will have 3 separate small wheelie bins for general waste (red lid), mixed recycling (yellow lid) and FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics recycling – green lid) – a great way to keep food scraps out of landfill, contributing to a greener village.
And that’s not all…
As part of our commitment to sustainability, the team are continuously finding new and improved initiatives and processes that can be incorporated across our services. So, rest assured that life at Warrigal Lake South will be an environmentally friendly one!
